For students who have not registered, they will be given an opportunity to register at this session. Once your student's fall schedule has been approved by the advisor, they will go to the Main Campus Student Center where they can pick up their ECU 1Card in room 125.

In this first group session, you will meet your Orientation Assistants and other new students. You will also learn about campus resources and organizations, what to expect in your first year, and get your questions answered.

Discover tips for you and your student to navigate some of the exciting and challenging situations they may encounter. The Department for Disability Support Services (DSS) ensures equal access for students with disabilities through accommodations and advocacy on campus. DSS determines reasonable accommodations for academics, housing, and other areas of campus as needed for students with disabilities. Parents with students who utilized an IEP or 504 plan in high school are strongly encouraged to attend this session. Join the presenter in a conversation about the transition from IDEA to ADA. Information on how to register with DSS, how to access disability services, and how to manage a disability in college will be discussed.

Here’s your chance to see what college life is really all about! This session will give you a fun and informative look at issues and experiences that you are likely to encounter here at East Carolina. You will find this program beneficial in helping you to survive as well as succeed in your new life as an ECU student.

In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

This session will cover everything you need to know about Student Health Services at East Carolina -- from services provided to insurance options and immunization requirements. Learn about the wide range of high-quality services offered to students, including primary and preventative health care, health and nutrition education, pharmacy, allergy clinic, radiology, and much more.

This session is for students, and their families, who are interested in the health professions requiring an advanced degree (masters or doctorate). You will learn more about the necessary requirements as you plan for graduate study in dentistry, medicine, occupational therapy, optometry, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, and veterinary medicine, (Please note: this session does not include nursing.)

Staff from Career Services and Academic Advising Directors will provide you with a map of how you can reach your educational and career destinations. At ECU, many academic majors have established standards for student computers and require or recommend their students own or have access to a computer. We’ll talk about these requirements and will also mention some of the free software available to you as a student. Intercultural Affairs (IA) creates inclusive and equitable communities where all persons confidently know and are known. IA includes five unique and dynamic centers and offices, all located within the Main Campus Student Center: the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement, Ledonia Wright Cultural Center, the Women and Gender Office, the Dr. Jesse R. Peel LGBTQ Center, and the Military and Veterans Resource Center.This breakout session will introduce you to the IA team and some actively involved student leaders who will talk about the many programs we offer throughout the year.

In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. The Department for Disability Support Services (DSS) ensures equal access for students with disabilities through accommodations and advocacy on campus. In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

During this session, you and your parent will find out more information about the academic college that you will be a part of in the fall. Students and parents will hear critical academic information including academic rules/regulations and major specific information. Following the informational portion of this session, parents will head to Main Campus Student Center for an ending reception while students will meet (as a group) with advisors to review their schedule. For students who have not registered, you will be given an opportunity to register at this session. Once your fall schedule has been approved by the advisor, you will go to the Main Campus Student Center where you can pick up your ECU 1Card in room 125.

The Department for Disability Support Services (DSS) ensures equal access for students with disabilities through accommodations and advocacy on campus. DSS determines reasonable accommodations for academics, housing, and other areas of campus as needed for students with disabilities. Parents with students who utilized an IEP or 504 plan in high school are strongly encouraged to attend this session. Join the presenter in a conversation about the transition from IDEA to ADA. Information on how to register with DSS, how to access disability services, and how to manage a disability in college will be discussed.

First Generation college students are those students who are the first in their family to attend college, where neither of their parents has obtained a four-year college degree. First Gens have an identified and measurable lack of cultural, social, and educational capital resulting in a possible deficiency when navigating the path to higher education. They are also very committed to obtaining their college degree and exhibit a tenacity in getting there! First Generation students are blazing a new path for themselves as well as their families and they do not always know what to do, how to do it, or when; ECU has many resources to assist them in their college journey and we will identify those in this session. ECU is now recognized as a First-Gen Forward Institution of Higher Ed.; a distinction we have earned based on our work with First Gen Pirates. ECU and The Office of Student Transitions has offered programs to address specific needs of ECU’s First-Generation student population since the summer of 2013. This orientation session is designed to assist parents and family members in supporting their First-Generation students while they attend East Carolina University.

In this session, the staff of the ECU Center for Counseling and Student Development will describe the free, confidential counseling services provided by the primary counseling center on campus. Common reasons students seek help, ways to recognize distress in your student, and tips for making a healthy adjustment to college (for both students and parents) will also be discussed. Additionally, center staff will answer specific questions covering a variety of concerns, such as the meaning of confidentiality and other helpful resources available on campus, etc.
