Braver Angels, ACTA and BridgeUSA have forged an acclaimed program that teaches students and faculty how to honor ideological diversity, foster civil discourse on college campuses, and cultivate leaders to carry the movement forward. Braver Angels debates are not competitive or performative events separating speakers and audiences. They are immersive and highly participatory, inviting everyone in the room to express themselves freely in a collective search for truth. Conducted in a light parliamentary format and chaired by trained experts, they teach students to express their views, frame persuasive arguments, listen deeply, and engage respectfully around the most challenging political and social issues dividing our nation today.

The mission of the College of Education is the preparation of professional educators and allied practitioners, including professionals in business information systems, counseling, electronic media, and librarianship. Since 2014, more than 2,500 individuals have proudly earned a Bachelor of Science in University Studies (BS-US) from East Carolina University. Offered through the Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, the University Studies major offers a flexible and personalized academic path for learners seeking an option outside of traditional majors at ECU. The BS-US can be completed entirely on-line, or on-campus, and allows students to build on their previous coursework and transfer credits, providing a unique opportunity to tailor their education to fit their personal and professional aspirations. With the support of expert advisors, University Studies students craft an individualized degree that aligns with their academic, career, and/or personal goals.

The Bachelor of Science in University Studies is perfect for students with a higher number of completed credit hours (a minimum of 75 earned hours is required to declare), transfer students, military affiliated students, and “Finish” students (former Pirates who left ECU without a degree) who need a degree that is flexible, personalized, and rewarding.

While earning a bachelor’s degree is a big commitment, the rewards are plentiful and within your reach. A brighter economic future, more career possibilities, and a greater sense of personal fulfillment are all possible with the completion of our BS-US!

At ECU, there are SO many ways to become a nurse!
ENC Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) provides students with a four-year option in which they complete an Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. The Eastern North Carolina RIBN program dually admits students to East Carolina University and one of the local community colleges that partner with the ECU College of Nursing.

Our ENC aRIBN option is another pathway for students to obtain their ADN and BSN while dually enrolled at one of our local community college partners and ECU online.

Our traditional RN to BSN option is another pathway for students to obtain their BSN after successfully completing their ADN.

The Office of Global Affairs houses Education Abroad where all your study abroad questions can be answered. Learn what opportunities are available for you to study abroad or engage with the international community on campus.

LEARN:
Don't know where to begin? Join us for a Study Abroad 101 information session held every Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:00pm at the International House while classes are in session. We also have a Canvas course available for those of you with time conflicts.

These sessions cover the various program types available through ECU, how to research programs that fit your priorities, scholarships and financial aid, and provide you the opportunity to speak directly with an Education Abroad Advisor as well as fellow Pirates that have studied abroad before!

Once you have completed a Study Abroad 101, you can meet one-on-one with a study abroad advisor. Set up an appointment with an Education Abroad Coordinator to go more in depth about your options and questions.

This portal is for currently registered student organizations to request funding for items and travel that follow the SGA Funding Manual.

All Appropriation’s funding requests must be submitted by:
- Funding requests for the 2025-2026 academic year will only be considered between September 1st, 2025, through March 17th, 2026 (30 business days before the end of spring semester classes).

***All requests need to be submitted 45 BUSINESS DAYS before the date funds are needed
- Business day: when both students and staff are required to be on campus. In general, 45 business days can be considered 9 weeks’ worth of workdays (Monday-Friday).

- Weekends, holiday breaks, and state holidays do not count towards the 45 business days. Unforeseen university closings will not be penalized against the application.

Once the request has been submitted, the SGA Treasurer will review your funding request; after reviewing, an invitation will be sent via email for a hearing and you will need to respond within 48 hours accepting the invite.

The first Funding Training will be at the Fall 2025 Student Organization Kickoff (Date TBA) with virtual makeup Trainings on the following dates:
- Tuesday, September 9th at 2:15 PM
- Wednesday, October 1st, at 1:00 PM
- Thursday, November 6th at 3:00 PM
- Thursday, January 15th at 2:15 PM
- Wednesday, February 11th at 1:00 PM

To be admitted to the portal to request funding for your organization, it is required to attend a training during the 2025-2026 academic year.
