The mission of the College of Education is the preparation of professional educators and allied practitioners, including professionals in business information systems, counseling, electronic media, and librarianship. Significant to this mission is a strong commitment to three important related areas, all of which are realized through partnerships and other endeavors. These three areas are:
1. the encouragement and nurturing of professional growth for educators and allied practitioners at all levels and in all areas of the educational endeavor;
2. a continuing emphasis on and support for scholarship and research/creative activity;

Connect for Success centralizes university communication to heighten student awareness of academic, financial, and personal well-being. Multiple methods of communication are used to establish connection, including text, chatbot, call center, enrollment coaching, and early success identification. We are a vibrant and energetic collection of teachers, scholars, researchers, and writers. The Department of Student Engagement is a portfolio of offices, centers, and programs focused on helping students connect to the campus community and fostering student success in college. Each of our units provides opportunities for students to get involved, attend events and programs, establish a support network, and enhance their college experience.

Fraternity and Sorority Life; Ledonia Wright Cultural Center; Student Activities and Organizations; and Women and Gender Office are all located on the first floor of the Main Campus Student Center.

The Dr. Jesse R. Peel LGBTQ Center provides support and a sense of community for students, faculty, staff, and alumni of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. Since 2014, more than 2,500 individuals have proudly earned a Bachelor of Science in University Studies (BS-US) from East Carolina University. Offered through the Harriot College of Arts and Sciences, the University Studies major offers a flexible and personalized academic path for learners seeking an option outside of traditional majors at ECU. The BS-US can be completed entirely on-line, or on-campus, and allows students to build on their previous coursework and transfer credits, providing a unique opportunity to tailor their education to fit their personal and professional aspirations. With the support of expert advisors, University Studies students craft an individualized degree that aligns with their academic, career, and/or personal goals.

The Bachelor of Science in University Studies is perfect for students with a higher number of completed credit hours (a minimum of 75 earned hours is required to declare), transfer students, military affiliated students, and “Finish” students (former Pirates who left ECU without a degree) who need a degree that is flexible, personalized, and rewarding.

While earning a bachelor’s degree is a big commitment, the rewards are plentiful and within your reach. A brighter economic future, more career possibilities, and a greater sense of personal fulfillment are all possible with the completion of our BS-US!

Because faculty-student interactions are key to student success, our mission is to create sport programming that would foster community for both students and faculty/staff through pickleball. Due to the exponential growth of the sport across all age-spans and its potential to be an important social institution that fosters belonging, our mission is to development an experiential learning opportunity that would charge ECU sport management graduate students with creating and managing an annual HHP Faculty, Staff, and Student Pickleball tournament.

ENC Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses (RIBN) provides students with a four-year option in which they complete an Associate Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Student organizations provide almost limitless opportunities for students to build connections on campus. We encourage students to become involved in student organizations to enhance their learning and add co-curricular experiences to their classroom work.

The Office of Global Affairs houses Education Abroad where all your study abroad questions can be answered. Learn what opportunities are available for you to study abroad or engage with the international community on campus.

LEARN:
Don't know where to begin? Join us for a Study Abroad 101 information session held every Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:00pm at the International House while classes are in session. We also have a Canvas course available for those of you with time conflicts.

These sessions cover the various program types available through ECU, how to research programs that fit your priorities, scholarships and financial aid, and provide you the opportunity to speak directly with an Education Abroad Advisor as well as fellow Pirates that have studied abroad before!

MEET:
Once you have completed a Study Abroad 101, you can meet one-on-one with a study abroad advisor. Set up an appointment with an Education Abroad Coordinator to go more in depth about your options and questions.

2023-2024 Announcement - Funding

This portal is for currently registered student organization treasurers who fall under the SGA funding process.

The portal is currently OPEN.

All Appropriation’s funding requests must be submitted by:
- Funding requests for the 2023-2024 academic year will only be considered between August 28th, 2023, through March 12th, 2024 (30 business days before the end of spring semester classes).

***All requests need to be submitted 45 BUSINESS DAYS before the date funds are needed
- Business day: when both students and staff are required to be on campus. In general, 45 business days can be considered 9 weeks’ worth of workdays (Monday-Friday).

- Weekends, holiday breaks, and state holidays do not count towards the 45 business days. Unforeseen university closings will not be penalized against the application.


Once the request has been submitted, the SGA Treasurer will review your funding request; after reviewing, an invitation will be sent via email for a hearing.


Makeup Funding Session 2023 will be announced at a later date.
