Cyrille Aimée grew up in a musically vibrant, multilingual household in Samois-sur-Seine, where her passion for jazz was ignited by the Afro-Caribbean soundtracks of her mother’s Dominican Republic nativity, by the Django Reinhardt Festival hosted in her hometown, and by her communities’ musicians. Soon after leaving her hometown and moving to New York City Aimée quickly gained a reputation for herself by recording with Roy Hargrove, being invited to perform with Steven Sondheim, backed by Wynton Marsalis, and becoming a 2019 GRAMMY nominee for her version of Sondheim song “Marry Me a Little”. She has now teamed up with producer/multi-instru-mentalist Jake Sherman to create her newest album, A Fleur de Peau, combining jazz’s depth and sophistication, the immediacy of pop, and the irrepressible dance rhythms of the Caribbean.
